Wheels Bring Underwater Living to Life in Jefferson’s Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is a classic fairy tale told by Hans Christian Anderson.  Jefferson Theatre Company’s production of Little Mermaid is following the classic tale instead of the popular Disney animated movie version.

If you are only familiar with the Disney version, this version promises to be different and big. Actors living under the sea wear inline skates and Heelys to resemble moving through water.  Extra lighting was rented to give the stage a vibrant underwater effect.  Colorful costumes, ramps, three levels of staging, glow in the dark effects and actors moving in an out of the audience complete the never before seen production for Bloomington audiences.

Director Laura Schmit says it will entertain the whole family, “The little kids will love it because there is so much going on and the adults are going to be swept away with the magic of it.”
