Registration is now open for Fall art classes at the Bloomington Theatre and Art Center at 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd. A variety of classes and workshops in painting and drawing continue through mid-December. Among many new offerings this season, BTAC is happy to welcome painter Jonathan Aller as teaching artist for two new classes, Still Life and Figure Drawing.
Jonathan Aller studied at Ringling College of Art and Design where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. From there he pursued his passion in classical drawing and painting to Florence, Italy. He studied at the prestigious Angel Academy of Art learning how to draw and paint like the masters. Jonathan devotes most of his time to painting in the classical manner of still life and portraits, “I enjoy trying to portray beauty from observing nature, the challenge it creates and the rewards from the finish makes it all worthwhile.”
Still Life is a 6-week oil painting class for more experienced artists and is offered Thursdays, October 27- December 8 from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m. Mr. Aller will also offer Figure Drawing for students of all experience levels ages 18 and older on Thursdays, October 27 – December 8 from 6:30 -9:00 p.m. Also known as ‘life drawing’, Figure Drawing is a class devoted to the study of drawing the human form and is open to students of all experience levels. The first half of class will be devoted to learning techniques that comprise the formula for successful life drawing, one of the cornerstones of artistic training. The second half of class will involve putting those techniques into practice by drawing from a live nude model.
