Sunday night, October 9, 2011, School Board candidate Judy Gruggen withdrew from the race.  She was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer on Friday, October 7. She will not be participating in the League of Women Voters Forum on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Bloomington City Council Chambers or the Bloomington PTSA Forum from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at the Educational Services Center.

“Thank you for the support,” Gruggen commented to the people intending to vote for her. “I really wanted to build a collaborative relationship with the community and school administration and I hope to see that happen.”

The remaining four candidates vying for the three available seats are Maureen Bartolotta (incumbent), Dick Bergstrom,  Nelly Korman, and Rick Oliva.

Gruggen’s son will be taking down signs.   She asked that any missed, be thrown away.

Judy Gruggen was the district-wide president of the PTSA Council for two years, president of the PTSA at Poplar Bridge Elementary, had nine years of PTSA involvement and had been involved with the Bloomington Public Schools for thirteen years.  Her involvement started when her three year-old attended ECFE classes at Normandale Hills.
