Bloomington Civic Theatre Presents Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps

| March 7, 2012

Bloomington Theatre and Art Center is excited to announce Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, a Bloomington Civic Theatre production taking place in the Black Box Theater March 16- April 7, 2012.

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a spy novel, add a bit of farcical comedy and you have a fast-paced whodunit packed with nonstop laughs, and a cast of four playing over 150 characters reenacting the entire movie on stage, complete with train chases, plane crashes, shadowy murders, beautiful spies, dastardly villains, and some good old-fashioned romance! The 39 Steps stars notable Twin Cities actors Eric Webster, Emma Gochberg, David Gangler, and Sam Landman. Zach Curtis directs.

The 39 Steps is adapted by Patrick Barlow from the John Buchan novel and subsequent Alfred Hitchcock film. This award winning play was given the Tony Awards for Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design, and nominated for four other Tonys: Best Play, Best Direction of a Play, Best Scenic Design of a Play and Best Costume Design of a Play. The 39 Steps also received the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and Outstanding Lighting Design, and the Lawrence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
